Where are they now? Greater Lansing Association of Realtors

A lot has changed in the real estate market since the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors relocated their office to Delhi Township in 2007. But if the organization’s 111 years of success have proved anything, it’s that nothing will stand in the way of its mission to advocate for local property owners and real estate professionals—not a financial crisis, a generational shift in homebuyers, or the general ebb and flow of this evolving industry.

“We keep the market moving,” said Meghan Webber, CEO of the organization. There are countless influencers in the real estate market and any inefficiency, from an individual buyer-seller dispute, to taxes and governmental regulations, can prevent the market from moving forward.

The Greater Lansing Association of Realtors provides countless services to every corner of the real estate market. For home buyers and sellers, they provide accurate real estate listing data, down payment resources, and mediation services for potential disagreements. For local realtors, they provide continuing education on essential topics like fair housing, legal counsel, and more. The organization also advocates legislatively to help promote the interests of the real estate market in local and state municipalities.

All in all, they exist to make sure real estate in the greater Lansing area is fair, equitable, and progressive.

“We want to make sure it’s a free enterprise and that the public is still able to purchase homes,” Webber said. “It is still the American Dream to own a home. We still find that 88 percent of millennials are stating that the dream of homeownership is in their ideals—even after the foreclosure crisis.”

The organization started in 1907 when 14 local firms organized the first real estate board in the Lansing area to promote the interests of the profession and establish a strong standard of ethics in all real estate transactions.

Since then, the organization has survived and thrived through evolving markets and shifting demographics. And their hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. The Greater Lansing Association of Realtors was honored with a 2017 Chamber Legacy Award from the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, recognizing the organization’s continuing impact on the Lansing region.
