As the Holt restaurant industry continues its recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, two local favorites are rebounding with moves to new locations. Holt residents will soon be able to visit the popular Gravity Smokehouse and Los Tres Amigos at their larger spaces on Cedar Street.
Gravity Smokehouse
Gravity Smokehouse will open this summer in the location formerly home to Champions Sports Bar & Grill, which closed its doors in February after 20 years of business. Gravity Smokehouse began in 2018 as a part-time venture for Holt natives Bruce Kring and James Stine, operating as a food truck traveling mid-Michigan. In 2019, Kring and Stine purchased and remodeled the former Hot N’ Now on Cedar Street, where the restaurant’s drive-thru proved valuable as indoor capacity was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new location will greatly expand Gravity Smokehouse’s offerings with 5,000 square feet of space and seating for 150 people, allowing for new menu items, pool tables and dartboards, and the addition of a full bar.
Los Tres Amigos
Los Tres Amigos is moving to the space most recently occupied by Kazumi Japanese Steak and Sushi Bar, just south of their current location in Lansing. For over a decade, the Los Tres Amigos restaurant group has been a mainstay in mid-Michigan Mexican fare with 16 locations across the state. Though the group experienced a loss with the closure of the downtown Lansing location in June 2020, Los Tres Amigos continues to expand, including its newest addition in Northville and the possibility of more openings. Holt residents can expect the new location will feature the delicious mainstays Los Tres has become famous for, including their traditional Mexican menu, signature margaritas, and homemade sauces.
